Word Count: 1,000+
Projects: “the face,” or “pet names” (a short story) I haven’t decided on a title.
Notes: Today I really got into this new, experimental story. I’m about 1,600 words in, and it’s becoming clear to me that this tale is a tragedy. I’m writing this story to observe a conflict, and like a lot of literary fiction, I don’t aim to solve it entirely, as the confliction stemming from abuse, mistreatment, incest, and trauma creates an atmosphere that makes the idea of a resolution a silly concept. Baby steps, however, are a victory unto themselves.
Reading: As I said yesterday, I probably wouldn’t read, and I didn’t. But, today is a getting-my-shit-together day, and I got my eye on Stories of Your Life and Others by Ted Chiang.
